Our Services

Having a beautiful, healthy smile not only increases your self-confidence but improves the quality of your life. All the staff at Sweet Life Dental want to help you achieve that.  We provide a wide range of dentistry services for all age groups, and we welcome your entire family into our home!

Emergency Services
When you have a toothache, a cracked tooth, or an abscess, we know it can be stressful, and we are here to assist. Our team will try to get you an appointment as soon as possible and help you find a solution.

Tooth Trauma Management
Following any accident/fall that involves the teeth, make sure that you or your child visits a dentist as soon as possible for an emergency visit to determine which treatment method is needed. Acting fast will increase the chance of saving the tooth and decrease the risk for infection.

FYI: if the tooth is ever fully knocked out of the mouth, make sure to immediately put the tooth in a cup of milk and bring it with you to the appointment.

Preventative Services
Proper preventative care is paramount for a healthy smile and a lifetime of oral comfort and function. In fact, it’s not only that–more and more studies are showing the link between good oral health and good heart, lung, brain, and overall body health.

We want to be your dental health partner and catch undesirable conditions in the mouth before they cause worse problems like pain or expensive treatments. This is why we recommend an exam and professional cleaning every 6 months and x-rays depending on your risk for developing dental decay or gum disease. Our digital x-rays emit 80% less radiation than traditional x-rays and are safe for you and your family!

A Friendly Dental Reminder for You:

The American Dental Association recommends brushing your teeth 2 times a day for a minimum of 2 minutes each time. This will help to remove approximately 60% of all the food, sugars, and bacterial plaque that develops on the tooth. The other 40% of the plaque buildup requires the daily use of floss. Without meticulous oral hygiene, the bacterial plaque will remain on the teeth and gums and can…

  • initiate an inflammatory response in your gums known as gingivitis. This is a gum condition that is associated cleaning
with bleeding, swelling, redness, a bad smell, and/or pain. If the plaque is not removed over a period of time, it combines with the proteins and minerals in our saliva to form a hard substance called calculus that furthers the swelling and bleeding in the gums and may even cause damage and destruction of the bone underneath.
  • produce acids, which soften or demineralize the teeth, and cause dental decay, or cavities. The cavities form starting from the enamel (the outermost, protective surface of the tooth) and eventually progress inwards. When the cavity spreads into the softer, less resistant inner layer of the tooth known as dentin, the cavity is capable of growing very large, very rapidly, which is why the cavity needs to be caught in time and treated early on.

DID YOU KNOW?

Every single one of us has bacteria in our mouth. In fact, there is more bacteria in our mouth than the human population in the world!

Fillings/Bondings and Crowns
In general, small-to-moderately sized cavities and fractures can be eliminated and repaired with fillings, while moderate-to-large cavities and fractures may need to be treated with crowns, or dental caps.  To rebuild your tooth, we are able to provide both white fillings and white crowns that look and function naturally.bondings

Over time, the more a tooth is restored with a filling material, especially a silver filling, the more susceptible the tooth is to fracturing under chewing forces.  That is when a crown may be a good option to protect the tooth. Our team will use an intraoral camera to show you what we see, and Dr. Tzeng will be sure to discuss with you which treatment best fits your needs.

Endodontic Treatment (Root Canals)
Advanced caries or trauma may cause severe, spontaneous, and/or lingering pain because of irreversible damage or death to the nerve and infection in the sabscess root canalurrounding tissues and bone.  An active infection is often associated with swelling (or an abscess) in the gums and/or jaw. In these cases, a root canal, or removal of the damaged, infected, or dead nerve, may be necessary to alleviate the pain or prevent future pain.

The goal of root canal therapy is to help you save your natural tooth by 1) removing any diseased nerve and tissue inside the tooth, 2) thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting the tooth, 3) and filling and sealing the root so that future re-infection is less likely. After the root canal is completed, a crown and occasionally a post may be necessary to rebuild the tooth and prevent its fracture.

Do they hurt?
No! Root canal therapy helps to relieve the pain, not cause it! Your tooth will be numbed via modern anesthesia techniques prior to treatment. Sometimes, if the nerve is very infected, it may take a while for the tooth to be numbed, but we won’t get started until it is. Following treatment, there is usually very little post-operative pain, but sometimes you can feel a little soreness and tenderness, which can be easily controlled with over-the-counter pain medications.

Extractions
You may need an extraction if :

  • There is very little healthy tooth remaining above the bone following extensive decay or trauma, and the tooth becomes non-restorable
  • The tooth is improperly positioned and trapping food (ex wisdom teeth)
  • The tooth has severe periodontitis (extensive bone loss, pus, and mobility)
  • You are undergoing orthodontics

Come in for an examination to find out about our pain-free and reasonably priced extractions. We always try our best to provide same-day service especially for those in pain.

Following an extraction of a tooth, make sure to ask about tooth replacement options. Remember that after an extraction, teeth will continue to move until they hit resistance. Here is a picture of what could happen over time. after-extraction

Dental Implants
Missing teeth can cause several problems, such as:

  • unpleasant smile and loss of self-confidence
  • difficulty with chewing and trapping food
  • shifting teeth
  • difficulty speaking
  • bone loss

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth, so that we can avoid these issues.  There are three components involved: 1) the implant screw; 2) the implant crown; and 3) the abutment. The implant screw is placed into the jawbone and over a few months, it fuses with the bone to provide a strong anchor for your new tooth. The implant crown is the part of the tooth that you see in the mouth, and the abutment is the connector for the screw and crown.

Please visit us for a free implant consultation to see if you are a good candidate for implant therapy!

Dental Bridges
Missing teeth can cause difficulty with chewing, smiling, and speaking and problems with trapping food and shifting teeth.  If you are missing one or a few teeth, are not interested in implants, but still want a strong, stable option to replace the missing teeth, you may want to explore the option of a bridge.

A bridge requires placing crowns on the two teeth next to the space, which will be connected to and anchor the replacement tooth/teeth.  The bridge is cemented on the teeth, so you do not have to take it in and out of the mouth.dental bridge

You can replace your missing tooth or teeth in 2 to 3 visits, so schedule your appointment today.

Removable Partials/Dentures
If you have several missing teeth, a very cost-effective way to replace those missing teeth and allow you to be able to chew, talk, and smile with confidence once again is to fabricate a removable prosthesis called a denture or partial.

You can have yourself a new set of teeth in about 2-5 appointments, so what are you waiting for? Call us for an appointment.

Children's Dentistry
We want to help your child develop good oral hygiene habits and set the stage for a lifetime of excellent oral health and reduced future dental costs. If treatment is necessary, we try to make this visit as kid-friendly and enjoyable as possible. We allow parents to accompany their children to the dental operatories, so you can also be a part of this experience.

Sedation
We know that the anxiety associated with visiting the dentist is real, and you are not alone. The Academy of General Dentistry reported that about 40 million Americans do not seek the dental care they need or deserve due to fear.  Dr. Tzeng and our team have helped numerous patients conquer their fears by creating a calming, friendly environment, letting our patients know that they are in control, and offering effective methods of sedation.

  • Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) can be used to help you feel more relaxed and comfortable, especially during long procedures or if you have a strong gag reflex. You will still be conscious and responsive while using nitrous. Make sure you have an empty stomach (no food/drink 4 hours prior to Nitrous Oxide use).
  • Oral Sedation provides a deeper level of sedation than Nitrous Oxide and creates a sleepy feeling during treatment. You will still be conscious and responsive when stimulated but may not remember the actual procedure. Pills are taken 1 hour prior to treatment. Make sure you have an empty stomach (no food 4 hours prior) and a driver must accompany you to the appointment.

Invisalign Braces
Braces are not meant for just kids and teenagers anymore! Invisalign is the “clear” way to straighten your teeth and close any gaps.  A series of removable and practically invisible aligners will gradually move your teeth to help you achieve the smile you want. Come for a free Invisalign consultation!

Veneers
Do you have any of the following?

  • Tooth stains that are not responsive to whitening procedures (ie tetracycline staining, tooth developmental discoloration)
  • Misshaped, crooked, or small teeth
  • Chipped teeth
  • Big spaces between teeth

If your answer is yes, you could transform your smile with veneers in as few as two visits! Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are individually handcrafted and then bonded to the front surface of your teeth to create your dream smile. Come visit us for a discussion on whether porcelain veneers are the right solution for you!
